Kanye West, Kim Kardhashian Finalise
Divorce
Kim Kardashian married rapper Kanye West in 2014, and
she filed for divorce nearly seven years later. According to People magazine,
the couple has finalised their divorce and agreed to pay $200,000 per month for
the raising of their four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
Ms Kardashian
filed for divorce in February, claiming disagreements. According to the
agreement, Ye (Kanye West, who officially changed his name last year) will
deposit $200,000 into Kardashian's account on the first of each month, and he
will be liable for the children's school, medical, and security fees.
Both have
settled in such a way that they must settle their child custody concerns
through mediation. They began dating in 2012 and married two years later. The
issue began in 2020, when the rapper announced his intention to run for
President of the United States, and throughout his campaign, he exposed details
about his personal life and their marriage.
In a rare public statement at the time, Kardashian
acknowledged his bipolar disorder diagnosis, urging followers for
"compassion" and admitting their "complex and traumatic"
situation.
The divorce
settlement parameters were agreed about nine months after Kardashian was
declared legally single during a bifurcation court. West had previously
disputed Kardashian's desire to be declared legally single, but stated at the
time, "I've requested my team to hasten the divorce of my marriage to Kim
so I may devote my full focus to our beautiful children."
In court
filings filed in February 2021, Kim stated that she wanted to split and begged
West to keep their divorce discreet, but he refused to do so, resulting in the
ugly and costly divorce.
